Robben Island

Situated 11km (seven miles) north off
the Cape Town harbour is Robben Island, the infamous island prison where thousands of
political prisoners were imprisoned between 1961 and 1991 for campaigning
against apartheid. Some of the prison's most prominent residents include Walter Sisulu and Nelson Mandela.
Tickets are sold at R150 for adults and R75.00 for children
of 4-17years.
Children under 4 come for free, but must be included
in the booking.
The three and a half hour tour includes:
- Visit to the Maximum Security Prison
- Interaction with an ex-political prisoner
- 45 minute bus tour with a guide providing commentary
